Narcotics dogs will be required to identify Marijuana and Cocaine. Additional Narcotics certs can be given for other drugs, such as Heroin Methamphetamine, or Opium. There will be two stashes of each narcotic. If you are certifying your dog for any drugs other than Marijuana and cocaine, please post so after the dog's name like so: Dog's name, handled by Kennel name - going for Drug name.
The Explosives certification will require dogs to identify the following basic odors: Powders, commercial dynamite or amonium nitrate, c-4 or flex-x, TNT or military dynamite, primer cord, slurries or water gel. They will be expected to search buildings, baggage, vehicles and open areas. They could also be tested in aircraft, watercraft and rail.
Cadaver dogs will alert to Bone, fluid and tissue, urine cannot be used as an alert. At least one hide of animal remains will be placed in a search area, if the dog alerts on the remains they will fail. Aids will be buried no deeper than 36 inches, but no shallower than 6... They also will not be placed any higher than 6 feet. The dog has as long as it needs to find the aids, and can be given breaks if needed. Searches may take place in land, water or both.
